The variety of different endings is cool although most are "these characters escape" and there's nothing more to it. The best thing about the game are the multiple possible outcomes, it's way less linear than Until Dawn or Little Hope. I like the setting, the cozy atmosphere in the beginning and the pirates who go crazy as a good antagonist. I also found the environment to be rather dull, with a massive lack of threats. Your decisions change nothing for the characters, as they’re only hallucinations and you’re really only going for what ending is best.
There’s entirely no supernatural threat, or entity. I like what it’s trying to say about mental health, but I don’t feel that this was the correct way to go about it. The problem with little hope is it tries to be subversive and twisty and ultimately invalidates it’s entire experience. The environment is cool, the threat is there with the pirates and ship but I found the characters to be HIGHLY lacking. People say that there’s no real supernatural threat in this one, but the ship IS the supernatural threat. I like that the story is based on the urban legend of the ghost ship. Man of Medan nails all of these minus one for me. They can be almost endlessly replay-able as long as you have good characters, a pressing threat and a cool environment/mystery. When buying Until Dawn, Man of Medan and Little Hope the whole reason I’m playing is because I want to be put to the test in a real supernatural event where my reactions and decisions determine the fate of the characters, the ending and unique situations.
